How to Account for Thermal Effects in Your Design
Wolfspeed Thermal PDKLearn how Wolfspeed used an ADS MMIC process design kit (PDK) configured to work with the ADS electrothermal simulator to co-simulate electrical and thermal performance. This allowed designers to quickly understand the impact of thermal effects on their circuit designs, and account for those effects during their design process.

Add PDKs to Your Design
Add PDKA Process Design Kit (PDK) contains active and passive device components with symbols, parameterized layouts, simulations models, and much more for IC design. A PDK provides both the opportunity to shorten the product design-cycle for high frequency chip design and the capability to simulate your chip before it is manufactured. Learn more about PDKs and check out this low noise amplifier (LNA) design example.

Designing a Broadband Amplifier with a 3D Smith Chart
3D Smith ChartModern high frequency circuit simulation is complex and dealing with generated data can be challenging. In this video clip, Matt Ozalas talks about how to visualize and understand simulation data using a methodology for linking the Python data processing environment to ADS. Matt shows how to design a broadband amplifier using a 3D Smith Chart.

PCIe Gen3 Serial Channel with IBIS-AMI Signal Integrity Analysis and Compliance Test
DesignCon PapersThis DesignCon paper presents the signal integrity analysis and Compliance testing of complete PCIe Gen3 channel with IBIS-AMI model. Gigahertz serialization and deserialization (SERDES) has become a leading inter-chip and inter-board data transmission technique in high-end computing devices. The IBIS-AMI model is used for circuit simulation of high-speed serial interfaces.

Introducing Tim’s Blackboard: The Melting Trace Paradox
If you find the equations for power on a trace and the required energy to change the trace temperature, you will find that the temperature increases with time. As the temperature reaches the melting temperature of copper, the trace melts. There is clearly a paradox here. We know the trace does not come with a warning label that says “don’t leave current on for too long, trace will melt.” How come our prediction is not consistent with our expectation? Visit Tim's Blackboard and find out now.
