Antenna Design Using ADS EM Tools
Antenna Design

The fundamental goal in cellular and network wireless development is maximizing antenna performance while minimizing antenna size. To achieve this, antennas have increased in the number of array elements and complexity. Learn how to easily design and simulate many different types of antennas using ADS’s EM simulation tools.

ADS Example Book:
Microwave Discrete and Microstrip Filter Design
Filter Design

Microwave filters play an important role in any RF front end for the suppression of out-of-band signals. Since the characteristics of an ideal filter cannot be obtained, the goal of filter design is to approximate the ideal requirements within an acceptable tolerance. Download the Filter Design Chapter from the ADS Example Book now.

Tim's Blackboard: The Dirac Delta Misnomer
Dirac DeltaDid you know the famous Dirac delta function is mathematically NOT a function? The Dirac "function" can be loosely thought of as a function on the real line which is zero everywhere except at the origin, where it is infinite. However, there is no function that can simultaneously have these properties. Any extended-real function that is equal to zero everywhere but a single point must have a total integral of zero. Well, if Diract delta is not a function, what is it? Visit Tim's Blackboard and find out.

Customizing Tables Just Got Easier with a New Python Module for MQA Software
MQA 2017Tables are created, organized and filled differently from one engineer or application to another. That’s why the ability to customize tables is so critical. For engineers wanting to quickly and easily customize tables, MQA 2017 extends its capabilities by introducing the Python Report Formatting System (PyRFS) module.

Low-Frequency Noise Measurements Corroborated Across Test Systems
ALFNAHave you ever wondered how 1/f noise at low frequencies dovetails with noise figure (NF) measurements at RF frequencies? In a recently published paper by Modelithics, data from the Advanced Low-Frequency Noise Analyzer (A-LFNA) has been shown to have excellent agreement with NF measurements taken with a PNA-X. This corroborates the measurement accuracy of the A-LFNA.

STMicroelectronics and ESEO Design Wireless Power Scavenging Circuit
IoT offers a more efficient and connected world, but with dozens of devices per household, battery management must become wireless and autonomous. STMicroelectronics (ST) and Ecole Supérieure d’Electronique de l’Ouest (ESEO) designed a 2.45-GHz wireless power scavenging or rectifying circuit. With its co-simulation capabilities, ADS made optimizing the “rectenna” (rectifier + antenna) a straightforward task. Read case study now.

Mindbender
Raine was trying to reset her watch clock one afternoon, after it had stopped running the day before. Even though she didn't know what the real time was, her father had given her a clue. "The right time is calculated by adding 1/4 of the time since noon today to 1/2 of the time till midnight tonight."
When her father told her this clue, she thanked him and set her watch correctly. What time was it?
