Advanced Load Pull "Data Mining", Now With Frequency Sweep
Power amplifier designers run load pull simulations. They want to determine the optimal load to maximize power-added efficiency (PAE), while satisfying gain compression and/or output power requirements. Registered users can get the updated load pull example that has been enhanced by adding a sweep of the fundamental frequency. This makes it easier to see how the optimal load impedance and other performances vary with frequency. Try a free 30-day trial of ADS now.

Calculate and Plot ACPR, EVM and More From Measured Load Pull Data
Power amplifier designers often measure swept-power, one-tone (CW) load pull data. They may want to see ACPR, EVM, and other modulated signal performance parameters. How do you calculate and plot modulated performance data? Registered users can download this ADS example shows how to do this using equations in the data display. Try a free 30-day trial of ADS now.

Tutorials in Signal Integrity Webcast Series: Thermal Effects On Your PCB
Typically signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) engineers set or assume the temperature for analysis at room temperature. However, the temperature may be higher than that, depending on the DUT location on PCB. What thermal effects for SI and PI do we anticipate if the PCB temperature is high? In this webcast, we will review the thermal effects on your PCB designs and demonstrate the performance changes due to the temperature change based on a practical case study. Register for SI / PI webcast now.

Tim’s Blackboard: Demystify Ultra-Low Impedance Measurements
To measure ultra-low DC resistance, instead of using a traditional 2-terminal sensing, one uses 4-terminal Kelvin sensing to avoid contact resistance. Similarly, instead of using the 1-port method to measure low impedance of the Power Distribution Network (PDN), we use a 2-port shunt technique. This month, Tim shows that not only does the 2-port technique give more measurable signal levels, it also helps reduce the effect of contact resistance. Visit Tim's Blackboard to learn more. Case Study: Extracting a Novel, Small-Signal Model for Bulk FinFETs
In recent years, Fin Field-Effect Transistors (FinFETs) have generated much interest. Due to the miniature dimensions and limited thermal conductivity of silicon material, FinFET performance is affected by the self-heating effect which causes an increase in the device temperature and manifests itself as a reduction in on-current and long signal delays. This case study highlights how Hangzhou Dianzi University created a novel compact model for bulk FinFETs that accommodates self-heating behaviors using IC-CAP to accurately extract the necessary model parameters.
